Wow! Wow! Wow! What an amazing night we had at practice. It was truly amazing!!!
Let me show you the before picture before I explain...
Notice our new painting...the cross? Angie opened up our practice by explaining the purpose of our new canvas. The kids were asked to think of one person they knew that was lost and without Christ. They were then asked to write that person's first name or unspoken if they didn't feel comfortable putting the name on the painting. Each week we committed to pray over these names before practice. As God answers these prayers, we will put a red heart around each name. We may never get to see God's completed plan in these lives, but hopefully seeds will be planted. We prayed to have the courage to witness and show His love to these people. As the kids have more names, they are free to write them at any time.
God tells us in Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
My prayer is much more than just telling others about Christ. That is definitely part of it, but more than that is BEING a witness for Him. Sometimes the best way to teach others about Him and want them to desire to have Jesus in their own lives is to live a consistent, loving, Christ-centered life in front of them. If we show ourselves to be good friends, good listeners, attentive to the needs of those around us,and be morally upright, then people will be likely to listen to us when we tell them about Jesus because they will SEE that there is something genuinely different about us. People are constantly watching even when we think they are not.
So my challenge to all of us is, "Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say" (Exodus 4:12).
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1).
"Fear ye not, neither be afraid; have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God: I know not any" (Isaiah 44:8).
"And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house" (Ezekiel 2:6).
"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching" (2 Timothy 4:2).
This is the least we can do for Him after ALL HE HAS DONE FOR US!!
Now, here is the picture of our cross after the kids and the adults wrote a name on it
Each name was written in complete and prayerful silence. Todd, closed us in a circle of prayer. I have to say, I am so excited to see what God has planned. I'll share as prayers are answered.
Please pray for us as we allow God to use us for His glory.
Looking to further the Kingdom,
Tammy
