VBS Decorating

Hey everyone! Thought you might like to see some set preparations for the puppet presentations during our ARROW ISLAND VBS! We start Sunday night 6-8:45 through Friday night. If you have children 4 years old through 8th grade, we would love to have them join us at Sunnyside Baptist Church!!!

Now take in mind, it's still a work in progress. I'll post final pictures tomorrow!! But it's mostly made of all paper. Lots of cardboard, bulletin board paper, plastic tablecloths, and coffee filters were used. We were even able  to use some of our greenery from the coral reef. I'm always amazed at how God blesses the creative minds in this puppet ministry! If you have any questions, please ask. We're always happy to share instruction.
Our gecko home made from styrofoam and spray insulation!!
Our snake pit made from rolling vines from craft paper
Loving the mushrooms- made from plastic Easter eggs and pipe cleaners
Our plungers with flower lei and boas
This flower is made from the top of a 2- liter
The stars are being dressed like Tarzan and Jane!

Day 233 Read the Bible with Me

Today's Reading: Jeremiah 51 - Jeremiah 52

My Prayer:

Teach Us to Love

O God, perfect us in love,
That we may conquer all selfishness and hatred of others;
Fill our hearts with Thy joy,
And shed abroad in them Thy peace which passeth understanding;
That so those murmurings and disputings
To which we are too prone may be overcome.
Make us long-suffering and gentle,
And thus subdue our hastiness and angry tempers,
And grant that we may bring forth the blessed fruits of the Spirit,
To Thy praise and glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Practicing for VBS

We had a very productive night tonight practicing for VBS. We will be performing 2 songs each night at the beginning assembly. The puppeteers have been working hard on prop making as well to help transform the stage into a tropical rain forest/jungle. Tonight, we worked on character personalities and prop placement and choreography. Everything is coming together nicely and lots of additional ideas were created through practice. It's amazing to see how God is working in the lives of this puppet team.

Tyler Duncan, please know that we will be praying for you and your Dad as you go to Belize this week on your mission trip. We can't wait to hear how The Good Lord uses you this week. Take care and God bless!!!

Here are some pictures through the chaos tonight!!

And... On another note.... I have been busy preparing for my first mission trip. I'm so blessed to be going to Estonia the end of June. I'll be taking puppets that so many people have graciously adopted to help Camp Gideon with their puppet ministry. I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to share God's word with puppets. Some of the kids helped make witness bracelets tonight to send over to the campers. Here's a picture of their efforts tonight

And, here are some pictures of the puppets that will be making their new home at Camp Gideon
And, a very special thank you to Rachel Cole for her generous donation of a "trash bag" full of puppets and stuffed animals that I will be leaving at the Sunbeam Center.

VBS Preparations are underway for the rainforest!

Everyone has been busy busy busy preparing for VBS. The rainforest is coming along nicely. I thought you might like to see some behind the scenes pictures. Some of the girls have ended up with more paint on themselves than on the props!
These are made from coffee filters and spray painted with glow in the dark paints. The lily pads are made from cardboard.
The orange, yellow, and blue things will be used to make other flowers.
These are my favorites!! Toilet bowl plungers with Hawaiian leis from the dollar tree. We had a few boas we used also.

The mushrooms are coming along nicely. And the poster flower in the background is really nice. We put a pot scrubber from the dollar tree in the middle.
The vines are being made from craft paper and rolled tightly. I've heard complaints of blisters forming on some hands.
This Ikea box will soon be transformed into a hut covered in bamboo.
This Ikea box will become a waterfall with the styrofoam being carved into rocks and painted.

I can't wait to see the final stage. I think our puppets are going to love this stage set!

Day 210 Read the Bible with Me

Today's Reading: Isaiah 53- Isaiah 56

My prayer:  "Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation-the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ-for this will bring much glory and praise to God." Amen       (Phil. 1: 3-11)
