Behind the scenes look at Creation Crawler

Here are some pictures of the making of Creation Crawler.
It all started with our "living Christmas tree" base.

Then we covered each level with green felt. Next plastic chicken wire that can be purchased at Lowes was attached with s hooks on each level in the same width that it comes. We then crumpled bulletin board paper that was highlighted with a dry brush of glow in the dark paint just to hit the high spots so it would glow was applied. After all 3 levels were completed in this manner, the fun part of attaching the decorations began.

Coral was cut with a hot knife from styrofoam sheets and then spray painted with fluorescent paint. The paint melted the styrofoam which added to the cool effects. You'll be able to see them closer in some of the following pictures.

On some of the pieces, bath sponges from the Dollar Tree were pulled apart and glued on. We also glued toilet paper rolls to plastic bowls that was covered in black light material. Yarn was hot glued to bowls to make our "brainy"coral.

We had to black the sanctuary walls. A new great find was at Wal-mart in the twin sheet section. Flat twin sheets are only $4. Great price!!!

Here is a picture of our clam drums. This was made with chicken wire, paper mâché, and bulletin board paper that was crinkled and dry brushed painted with fluorescent paint so that it would glow with the lights out. The base for the shells are pool noodles cut up and melted with a flame to give them shape and then spray painted.

The keyboard is made of different lengths of pool noodles attached toa paint stick.
The large pink tree is a limb that we cemented in a coffee can and then applied foam spray insulation with a final touch of fluorescent spray paint. We also attached. Black light to this as well. You might be able to seethe curly willow branches that were cemented into coffe cans and spray painted with green fluorescent paint. This made we some fillers!
Some of the other filler coral is Christmas decoration floral picks and just greenery bushes that we took apart. Some were touched up with fluorescent paint, others glowed on their own. Packing peanuts were glued to some styrofoam for texture. Plastic children's whistles from the Dollar Tree were also cut up and shaped into coral. Also  the fan coral was made from the plastic crosstitch canvas that glowed on their own. We jut hot glued glow in the glow in the dark pipe cleaners to them. Most of this'll came from Hobby Lobby.

Here is a look inside the tree on the bottom level. We found the garden knee pads from Dollar Tree worked wonderful for the kids to kneel on

The toilet paper rolls were spray painted and the string from weed eaters was just the right shape to look like flowing coral. This is our hermit crab guitars on chicken wire

More behind the scenes

Well, it's almost time for our performance tonight. Hope this inspires you.

Wordless Book Instruction

Let me explain about the Wordless book....it's made of felt squares, each square is a page. This is a wonderful website for more information: http://berean.org/bibleteacher/wb.html. It's an awesome way to explain the plan of salvation to little ones.  The colors are gold, red, black, white, and green. We bought our felt squares at Hobby Lobby and really didn't have to do anything except sew a straight stitch down the left side to "bind the book."

You could even make this from construction paper so that you could pass them out to your audience.
If you are planning a backyard Bible club, you could take a color a day and really emphasize what that color means. For instance, yellow is for Heaven. You could sing songs about Heaven, teach a bible lesson about Heaven, and have your craft about Heaven. Plus, the kids could work on making their wordless book throuout the week so that they could share the plan of salvation with others. After all, that is our commandment to Go, tell others. If you Google "The Wordless Book" or visit the website I posted, you should be able to find lots of ideas to make this work for you.

Looking to further the Kingdom,

Tammy
