Christmas in July

Well, I guess you could say Christmas in July!! I thought this post might put you in the mood for Christmas. You see, in the world of puppets, we have to plan ahead. It's that time to start looking for music and get our story line in order. I'd like to share some pictures of Christmas pasts. Let me start at the beginning.
You see, Brent, the master carpenter, made a barn front for the puppets several years ago, when his wife, Angie, our puppet director, thought it would be a good idea to do a fall festival variety show with youth and puppets. We served BBQ and the fixings and filled our fellowship hall. It was a huge success. A lot of effort went into the barn and the animal puppets were so cute we had to expand on it. So....a Christmas performance was done with a children's musical by Jeff Slaughter. We really didn't use any of his songs, but did use the play. It was a hit as well. Next Christmas, we built off of the story line and added our "living Christmas tree" of puppets. So, each Christmas, we have used the same storyline and props, but Brent, wrote different plays for us. Each one, always has a "simple"presentation of the Gospel, and is supported by songs performed by our puppets. The acting has always been left up to adults and any youth that like the spotlight. But, the songs have always been performed by our puppeteers. The year before this past Christmas, we did some blacklight drama with white gloves. I'll post about some of those later. There's just so much to share....
